The Ensembles of the East Paulding High School Band Program
Currently, the East Paulding High School Band Program supports 8 large ensembles. They are the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Raider Brigade (Marching Band), Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Varsity Winter Guard and Junior Varsity Winter Guard. In addition, the East Paulding High School Band frequently has students accepted into groups such as the GMEA All-State Band, GMEA District 7 Honor Band, Paulding County Honor Band, UGA Janfest Honor Bands, AASU Winterfest Honor Band, various DCI World-Class Division I Drum & Bugle Corps, various Independent WGI World Class Winter Guards and various WGI Independent World Class Indoor Percussion Ensembles, and the Army All American Marching Band. From time to time, the East Paulding High School Band Program also supports small ensembles such as brass and woodwind quintets.
Wind Ensemble
(indicated in Infinite Campus as, "Advanced Band" and “Mastery Band”)
This ensemble is a performance-based honor group with a set instrumentation that frequently performs level 6+ literature. The ensemble is made up of primarily upperclassmen, but students may be accepted as long as they are between 9th and 12th grades. The Wind Ensemble is considered to be the premier instrumental ensemble at East Paulding High School, with an approach to music making modeled after a collegiate level program. Acceptance into the EPHS Wind Ensemble is strictly audition-based and is primarily conducted by Mr. Robichaux.
Symphonic Band
(indicated in Infinite Campus as, “Intermediate Band” - Spring Only)
This ensemble is a performance-based group with a set instrumentation that frequently performs level 3 and 4 literature. The ensemble is made up of primarily underclassmen, but students may be accepted as long as they are between 9th and 12th grades. The Symphonic Band is considered to be the primary feeder to the EPHS Wind Ensemble, with an emphasis on both music making and individual student development. Acceptance into the EPHS Symphonic Band is generally audition-based and is primarily conducted by Mr. Lerner with assistance from Mr. Robichaux and the band staff.
Concert Band
(indicated in Infinite Campus as, “Beginning Instrumental Ensemble” - Fall Only)
This ensemble is a performance-based group that frequently performs level 2 and 3 literature. The ensemble is made up of primarily underclassmen and students learning new instruments. Students may be accepted as long as they are between 9th and 12th grades. The Concert Band is considered to be the primary feeder to the EPHS Symphonic Band, with an emphasis on individual student development. Acceptance into the EPHS Concert Band ny is reccomendation and in some cases, audition-based. It is primarily conducted by Mr. Lerner with assistance from Mr. Robichaux and the band staff.
Raider Brigade Marching Band
(Co-Cirricular - Fall Only)
The East Paulding Raider Brigade is the Marching Band of East Paulding High School. All enrolled brass, woodwind, and percussion students in grades 9-12 are eligible to perform in the GMBS State Champion, Raider Brigade Marching Band regardless of which ensemble that he/she has been placed in. Acceptance into the color guard however, is strictly audition based. The Raider Brigade is the most visual performance ensemble at EPHS with over 20 performances during the first semester of the school year. The East Paulding Raider Brigade is directed by Mr. Robichaux, Mr. Lerner, and the band staff.
Jazz Band
This ensemble is a performance-based group with a set instrumentation that strictly performs Jazz literature. The ensemble is made up of 9th through 12th graders. The members of the EPHS Jazz Band are hand-picked based on ability and dedication to their craft. It is considered as an honor group that explores various styles such as smooth, funk, swing, cool and occasionally rock. The EPHS Jazz Band is a zero period ensemble held outside of the regular school day when time allows.
Percussion Ensemble
(In Class/ Extra-Cirricular - Spring Only)
The East Paulding Percussion Ensemble is a performance-based group with a set instrumentation. All percussion students in grades 9-12 are eligible to perform in the Percussion Ensembles regardless of which ensemble that he/she has been placed in. Non-percussionist are accepted by audition only. The East Paulding Percussion Ensembles are directed by Mr. Robichaux and James McDaniel.
Varsity Winter Guard
(Extra-Cirricular - Spring Only)
The East Paulding Varsity Winter Guard is a performance-based group with a set number of student accepted into the ensemble each year. All marching band students in grades 9-12 are eligible to audition for the SAPA AA Champion, Varsity Winter Guard, regardless of their individual role or caption in the marching band. The East Paulding Varsity Winter Guard is directed by Caitlin Cobb with logistics organized through Mr. Robichaux. It is 100% designed and taught by Ms. Cobb and her guard staff.
Junior Varsity Winter Guard
(Extra-Cirricular - Spring Only)
The East Paulding Junior Varsity Winter Guard is a performance-based group with a set number of student accepted into the ensemble each year. All middle school students districted to go to EPHS that are in the 7th-8th grades and current marching band students in grades 9-11 and are eligible to audition for the Junior Varsity Winter Guard. The East Paulding Junior Varsity Winter Guard is directed by Mr. Santamaria with logistics organized through Mr. Thomas. It is 100% designed and taught by Mr. Tran and his guard staff.
